With the Big 12 Conference set to have 14 teams for the 2023-24 academic year, the conference has released the scheduling matrix for the men's and women's basketball teams for the unique season. Each team will play 18 games, nine home and nine away. The 18 games will consist of five opponents that each team plays both home and away, four opponents that are only played at home, and four opponents that are only played away. According to the Big 12's press release, the opponents were determined based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.
