Last week, the Big 12 Conference announced the new scheduling matrix for both the men's and women's conference basketball games. The change comes after four teams – BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston – joined the league earlier this month. Every team in the conference will continue to play 18 conference games this coming season. In previous years, those 18 games meant each team would play a home-and-home series with each league team. Now, with 14 teams, a new matrix was needed. Teams will play five Big 12 opponents twice, then the other eight conference opponents once, for 18 Conference games.
