The college football postseason returns to Houston as the city hosts the TaxAct Texas Bowl for the 17th time on Dec. 28 at NRG Stadium. This year's matchup will pit the Big 12 conference's Texas Tech against Ole Miss from the Southeastern Conference. Despite the relative recency of the Texas Bowl, having been hosted in Houston for less than two decades, the college football postseason in the city dates back to the Bluebonnet Bowl in 1959, said Texas Bowl Executive Director David Fletcher. The bowl is owned by ESPN but is managed locally by Lone Star Sports and Entertainment, an event management company affiliated with the Houston Texans.
